From
the South
Leave M6 at Junction 23 - Follow signs for A580 Liverpool
At 3rd set of lights turn right onto A571 to
Wigan ( Waterside Inn on your right ) Follow this road to Billinge
till you reach Jackson’s shop on a mini roundabout. Turn
left into Rainford Road Proceed for approx 1 mile till
you approach a right fork on a left hand bend.
(Gores Lane) Take this fork to a T junction.Turn right into
Crank Road, go over a hump back bridge and start to climb the
hill. The golf course is now on your right hand side.The entrance
is located on the right between a converted stone barn and a
bungalow. |

From the North
Travelling South on M6 leave at the M58 exit ( Junction 26 ) .Follow
signs from motorway islands for Wigan. Once away from the motorway
islands you will arrive at a T Junction. Right for Wigan - Left
for Orrell, turn left. After approximately 100
yards you will reach a set of traffic lights - Orrell Post Turn
left
Proceed along that road for approximately 2 miles - until you reach
Billinge Hospital on your left hand side. Opposite the main entrance
to the hospital turn right into Crank Road. Follow
this road over the top of the hill and you will see Houghwood Golf
right in front of you. Proceed down the hill and the entrance is
located on the left between a converted stone barn
and bungalow.
From Liverpool
Follow A580 from Liverpool. At traffic lights turn left
onto A570 to Southport. On the dual carriageway immediately turn
right to follow signs for Crank. Follow this road
to a T junction facing a nursery school. Turn left and
follow road round the bend past Red Cat pub, proceed down hill.As
the road bends to the right, take a left fork signposted
to Kings Moss and proceed over a hump backed bridge. Do
not turn left into Kings Moss but proceed uphill. The golf
course is on the right and the entrance is between
a converted stone barn and a bungalow.
From Ormskirk & Southport
Follow the Rainford bypass past signs to Rainford junction on a
large roundabout with the Wheatsheaf pub on the left. Proceed to
next left turn, just under bridge turn left to Rainford Village.
Proceed until you see a pub on the right called the Eagle &
Child. Turn left into Coal Pit Lane. At the top
of Coal Pit Lane, do not go round the bend. Turn
right into Higher Lane. Follow this road all the
way to the T junction. The Red Cat pub should be facing you. Turn
left and proceed down the hill. As the road bends to the right,
take a left fork signposted to Kings Moss and proceed over a hump
backed bridge. Do not turn left into Kings Moss
but proceed uphill. The golf course is on the right
and the entrance is between a converted stone barn and a bungalow.
